The difference between PPGI and PPGL

There are obvious differences between PPGI plates and PPGL plates in many aspects, including material, corrosion resistance and application scenarios.

1. Material differences

PPGI plate: the full name is Pre-Painted Galvanized Iron. It is a product made of hot-dip galvanized steel plate as the base material, which undergoes surface pretreatment (degreasing, cleaning, chemical conversion treatment), then continuous coating (roller coating) with organic coatings, and finally baking and cooling. The surface coating material of PPGI board is mostly polyester (PE), which has excellent corrosion resistance and decorative properties.

PPGL plate: Although similar in production process to PPGI board, PPGL board is further processed by hot-dip aluminum-zinc alloy on the basis of hot-dip galvanized steel plate. This treatment makes the PPGL board more corrosion-resistant and weather-resistant, allowing it to be used in harsher environments.

2. Corrosion resistance

PPGI plate: Although it has certain corrosion resistance, its corrosion resistance is weaker than PPGL board. This is mainly because the base material of PPGI plate is hot-dip galvanized steel plate. Although the galvanized layer can prevent the steel plate from rusting to a certain extent, it may still cause corrosion when exposed to harsh environments such as moisture, acid and alkali for a long time. Rust appears.

PPGL plate: Because it is coated with a layer of aluminum-zinc alloy on the basis of hot-dip galvanizing, this layer of alloy can form a dense oxide film on the surface of the steel plate, thereby greatly improving the corrosion resistance and weather resistance of the steel plate. Therefore, PPGL boards have a longer service life in harsh environments.

3. Application scenarios

PPGI plate: Due to its relatively low cost and good decorative properties, PPGI board is widely used in the construction field, such as as decorative materials for building wall panels, roofs, warehouses, shopping malls, etc. In addition, PPGI boards are also commonly used in home appliance casings, automotive interiors and other fields.

PPGL plate: Since PPGL board has stronger corrosion resistance and weather resistance, it is more suitable for occasions that require higher corrosion resistance and weather resistance. For example, in the automotive industry, PPGL boards are often used to manufacture car casings, chassis and other components; in the home appliance field, PPGL boards are also often used to manufacture the casings of high-end home appliances. In addition, PPGL boards are also widely used in building exterior walls, roofs and other parts that need to be exposed to harsh environments for a long time.
